As a kid when we parents and only child were alone on Christmas Day we'd get Red Rooster round the corner, you'd book it and pick it up Christmas morning. Nice chicken, diy salads and veges.

Can you get that in Melbourne? I can't find anywhere so far that is open on Christmas Day. BTW I'm looking in the inner-north Brunswick area though we could drive, we don't want to drive to Brighton or Frankston or anywhere far afield. Why not get some cooked chook the day before and have salad rolls or something. I imagine Melbourne would be the same. Isn't there a big Turkish community in Coburg? I don't think that is too far from Brunswick.

You could probably pick up a nice Peking duck and do pancakes. There is also a place in Kew called the Roast Kitchen they have a website that is usually open Xmas Day. Edited by duedec, 19 December - We buy it all the time. Might be worth giving them a call and seeing if they are open.

Last year it was so hot here and we were in a caravan park so we ordered a chicken one and an anitpasto one from Woolworths. The chicken had a few chooks cut into pieces, pita bread and dips and the antipasto was olives, salami, artichokes, semi dried tomatoes etc. Edited by annodam, 15 August - It's so cheap but the food is really good as they get such high trade.

I would seriously consider having lunch there. We always get a couple of platters veg or lamb. They don't serve alcohol though. It's called Neema- no idea if it's open Christmas Day, but they do eat in or take away and the food is lovely.
